Psychological Consultation

Let's meet for a one-time consultation to help you address a specific challenge. I can help you make sense of a confusing or complicated client, plan for one of those "difficult" conversations with a family, or help you refine a report to be truer to your own voice. We can have bigger-picture conversations, such as how to make your assessments more collaborative, design a report template that is efficient and clear, or streamline your practice to be satisfying and compassionate. I also offer consultation for specific steps in a TA, including help planning Assessment Interventions or coming up with creative and respectful ways to communicate results to children and teens (such as therapeutic fables, visuals, and personalized letters).

Do you have one of those appointments on your calendar? You're going to meet a new family that you just have a "feeling" about. Maybe you've already spoken to the referral source, or maybe you had a conversation with a parent on the phone that just didn't feel right. Somehow, your clinical senses are telling you that this case will stretch your limits.

OR

Have you been feeling bored or burned out with your assessments? Maybe you've lost that "spark" that used to make you excited to come to work every day. You know you're helping the families that you work with, but you're wondering if there's something more you can do to make assessments meaningful. You want to feel more connected to the families you work with. You know that you have more compassion and curiosity just beneath the surface.

Let me walk beside you through the assessment from start to finish. Let's plan an initial session that builds a relationship with a family while gathering information. I'll help you design a testing plan to explore a child's strengths and weaknesses while exploring the processes that underlie problem symptoms. We'll analyze test results in depth, going beyond diagnostic categories to describe how a child is functioning in their unique surroundings. We can talk through how to discuss tough topics with parents and children, leading them to a hopeful place. Finally, I'll help you write a report that is as concise as it is useful.

Meet with a group of like-minded psychologists to focus on a specific topic. I will announce new groups throughout the year on topics such as supervising psychological assessments and using performance-based tests. I will share helpful resources and we will learn from each other.
